Growing up in Hawaii has formed a deep bond between myself and my historical-cultural stories, and as a result, I have always felt drawn to and inspired by mythology. Myths, legends, and folklore make up the backbone of culture as a whole. My art attempts to explore the symbolism behind mythology because it contains many of the popular archetypes and powerful themes. They are a means with which people can communicate ideas and virtues from generation to generation, and with the current state of the planet that medium of communication must adapt and evolve into a more sustainable and eco-friendly means of communication. For this reason, much of my art focuses on the interpretation of myths and legends using recycled materials.
